The Glorious Sun

I have a friend in the sky, she’s a good friend.

She’s kept me warm since birth and has always been on time.

She loves me so much that she left me a moon to keep me company at night, what a glorious friend.

While watching relatives pass on to the next life she showed me a rainbow in the sky.

She shines for me, she’s a glorious friend.

People can be bitter and foolish, I know because I’m a person, but she does nothing but shine.

She’s filled with life, and she’s filled with rays of light.

She’s the Glorious Sun.

The Undefeated Sun

Samuel was a determined man and when he put his mind to a specific task he would do it. Some would ask why would a man want to create his own sun? Revered as one of the best scientists in the world, Samuel was on a mission to launch his man made sun into interstellar space. His claim was that the real sun was on the verge of death so he had to create a new sun to take its place. Feeling the high expectations of his most prized invention something just didn’t feel right. From a distance he noticed as his super radioactive photon prototypes were set to blast off into space an ultra magnetic reaction began to occur between his man made sun and the authentic sun. It was as though the two radio active entities created a vibration that rippled highly potent magnetic fields. Samuel saw something that he did not expect occur in nature and real time. Cosmic black dust began to fold the fabric of what stood between the real sun and Samuel’s man made sun and after a while Samuel’s team of researchers noticed a huge black hole forming in the middle of the two suns. This was nasty, and everything nearby began to get sucked in. It was as though the Sun itself had a weapon and began to supercharge the atmosphere to make sure that the laws of nature and the universe remained unchallenged. After everything in the vicinity vanished from real time, the room grew silent and everything and everyone including Samuel had been sucked in—never to see the birth of a man made sun and never to see life on earth again. Til this day their souls float in the static of space and time unable to dwell in the light of the undefeated sun. No man would ever pickup where Samuel left off. It took twenty years just for the earth’s temperature to drop back down to normal levels after Samuel’s entire teams’ flesh was obliterated in seconds before launch. In defeat, what was thought to be classified stirred up conversations and a new found fear of The Undefeated Sun.

The Sun Never Sleeps

On good days, it shines.

On bad days, it shines.

When all hell is breaking loose and everyone has left me alone, and the love of my life runs off with the kids, it still shines.

When Paster Al has just preached a sermon about the world coming to an end and the good lord returning to save us, it still shines.

When a drive by shooting takes the life of innocent people and I take a bullet to the leg, tormented, disgraced and defeated, there it is rising in the eastern sky with not a care in the world, shining.

When a war breaks out in the Middle East and millions of people get killed, that darn sun still shines.

When the doctor tells me that mom has got cancer and she’s tipped over drunk with a cigarette in her mouth in the living room for some reason the sun still shines.

When I’m broke, hot, and out on the streets with no where to go, there’s that sun rising in the eastern sky, for some mysterious reason the sun never sleeps.

Sun Shine Fever

Marvin left to go to the store, he left the house so upset that he didn’t make it back, but either way the sun kept shining the next day. We don’t know where he’s at, but there’s something special about what drove him to leave. I’m now in a crowd of people joking about the look on Marvin’s face and there’s even a big war going on about the next election, but that sun just keeps shining no matter what happens. The people of the world are easily deceived and rotted out, but that darn sun don’t have a care in the world, it just does its job. It’s crazy because Marvin quit his job and said he was going to run for president, maybe that’s where he went. My mom thinks he’s delusional either way you put it, but he’s my brother so I have to love him. I think he just needs some better hobbies because he has a habit of thinking that the world won’t go on without him. I think he’s got that sun shine fever. He entered physics class sometime back talking about a cure for every genetic disorder, I looked at him and wondered if his sun shine fever would ever wear off. I mean he just goes on and on about doing things that no one has ever done like shooting a rocket at the sun to figure out what’s inside. Everything he does has to be bigger than the average bear. We were sitting in the room the other night and he built a border wall out of blocks talking about his immigration plan. It was his major plan to keep the illegals out. I mean he doesn’t stop. He argues about policies and politics all day. I’m like, “Marvin, you cannot control the way people think, they’re going to do what ever they want to do. Why are you constantly trying to save them?” He got so made at me that he walked out on me and the whole family. No one has seen him. We thought the story was over until our neighbor Jody called. Come to find out, Marvin’s sun shine fever got so bad that he got on the presidential election ballot in every state. None of us could believe it. He was the talk of the town. He ran on the republican ticket and even raised enough support to get on the ballot. Our community had never seen anything like this. Marvin went from living room debates to the big stage. We thought he was crazy until we heard his speech on TV. The man was primetime, major news, everyone wanted to know the story of Marvin Banks. How did an energetic physics professor get the will power to run for the highest office in the land? Pretty soon everyone started catching the sun shine fever. Gangster rappers started having debates. People started debating at barbershops. Marvin had started a new craving for what he so much desired. I even started to get a little taste of the fever. I started getting in heated political debates at the beauty salon with old ladies. I went outside and put his sign in my front yard because I knew who Marvin was. I was so filled with the sun shine fever that even if Marvin lost his shine I was still going to vote for him. When my yard sign got stolen and Marvin became enemy number one for those doing dirt, I couldn’t help but work the polls and be a voice for the little man whom I’d grew up with debating in every election, the little man who was finally living out his dream. Till this day we call it sun shine fever. It’s a fever that some people catch when they’re tired of being status quo, it’s a fever that people catch when they want to shine as bright as the sun. Win, lose, or draw, Marvin kept people in orbit, he kept us all in motion. I still have no clue how he’s going to pull everything off in his presidential plan once he gets elected, but there’s no turning back now.

Sun Scams

Friends, this piece can teach you something or at least make you aware. I am not a rich man and I do not wish to be wealthy. As a child I was raised Christian, I was brought up in a gang riddled neighborhood and I saw good people get tormented every other day. This trauma led me to understand what true happiness is and will always be. In joining the military I got injured and found out that the brain is even more complex than actual living. The nurses and doctors helping me get better taught me a lot about reality. When I came home I accepted my diagnosis and I moved on by volunteering everywhere that I could go. I found out a lot about people and myself. I also found out what it’s like to be poor and scammed. Friends, the sun does not makeup stories, people do. The sun does not teach us about history, people do. The truth is that no one really knows what happened billions of years when the sun was created or how it came to be, so we can only assume or speculate. I learned this while being poor. I’m 42 now and I’ve heard more stories about creations and gods that even history professors can imagine. I’m considered disabled and I’ve spent the majority of my adult life trying to make other people’s lives better and I’m still poor. My first marriage was a mess so I walked away fearing for my own mental health and financial security. It was an unstable relationship from the beginning that maybe could have worked if we were true to one another so lesson learned. In these failures, I’ve learned a lot about people. I’ve spent time with people who have been incarcerated, and even on their death bed. I’ve cried as a grown man with a heart shattered in a thousand pieces so I write. I write because it makes me feel good. I don’t know everything and just like you I’m still vulnerable to being scammed. Friends, you can learn a lot from a poor man like me. It’s the people that prey on people like me that you should be aware of. They make fancy videos about things that we’re all eager to learn about. They sit in large temples claiming that the sun is going to burn us all. Some even sit in large gated communities passing laws and preaching false hopes. Some read about other scams while plotting on their own. Some find loopholes in the system and play the game very well. Some sell drugs never to get caught. Some even have an abundance of knowledge, and have been scammed themselves so they feel it is their duty to even the scales. In all of this, the sun still rises because even a poor man like me has enemies. Looking over my own flaws I’ve come to accept the fact that I myself am a scam artist because I too am human, but the picture I paint of reality scams those looking for another game to play with the world. These scammers may not see me as a person, but a pawn on a chessboard in a game to play that sadly in the end we all lose because we all must die. In reality, we’re all hopeless human beings searching for love around a large group of people trying to get by, so friends be mindful, be content and love yourself first. My purpose for writing this piece has everything to do with how I truly feel about life and when talking to a rich man I see a person no different from a poor man. I see one person eager to get by and another eager for genuine company. In all, the true message has everything to do with a man collecting money off of stories about the sun when in reality that same sun has the power to burn everything but for some reason there are clouds in the sky. Beware of sun scams because if the sky is falling there’s a good chance that the person on the mountain top has a clear view of the fog and while whoever is at the top is burning you’re searching for a way out of the fog so I guess we’re even. None of us can stay in the same position forever. Is the sun moving? Give me a dollar and I’ll make something up. What are you truly thinking? Do you really need what I have to offer and if you do what price are you willing to pay? Is the sun moving or not? Or are we all just stuck in the same position? Who knows?

The Free Sun

While watching the left preach the gospel of socialism I felt my heart beat faster. They had literally infected everyone and everything around me with their ideology. Liberalism everywhere, I had to look in the mirror just to make sure I wasn’t transforming also. It was like I was running from some evil human force because I couldn’t identify all of them. I called my friend Linda to vent, but I think they got her too. Realizing that I had no where to run to, I had no choice but to fight. They were everywhere, in church, on the corners, and even at the banks. Noticing the sun shining through the window, I realized that it was the only thing that was truly free, everything else on earth came at a cost and at the end of the day I had to accept it and suck it up. I was still stuck in the middle, overwhelmed by liberal social beliefs hoping that someday the right would save me. Honestly, there was no hope, I was on my own and all I had left was the free sun. I went out into my garden and picked the vegetables that it blessed me with.

The Living Sun

Some people say it just happened. I say no, a creator put it there for you and I to enjoy its magic. A creator pouring out marbles in space playing games with magic spheres. A creator that wipes our tears and walks with us when we’re sad. A creator that takes us home when we’re in pain and gives doctors the plants and knowledge to heal us. His light shines through the living sun. Magical black spirits that roam through space and time making way for the light. Creative darkness smiling with rays of photon stars in the night sky. Comets and asteroids filled with emerald gems. Energy that spans throughout generations providing the sparks for life. See through the darkness with a moon that glows. Feel alive with the power of a living sun. To comprehend a creator is to understand our will to believe or not. In all of my failures and trials I remain optimistic, filled with magical thoughts laced with gold ideas falling from above. I’m astonished everyday I awake because I see purpose and reason in a living sun.

Reruns of the Sun

I’m forty-two years old and the same sun shined for my grandparents, great grandparents, and even my relatives before them. How does it do it? It’s like watching reruns of a show that’s been running for billions of years. It’s dependable, consistent and always on time. Even when I’m dead and gone it will probably keep running the same episodes of light.

As long as I’m alive I guess I’ll keep tuning in to the same episode from sunrise to sunset, day by day.

Same old Reruns of the Sun.

Sun Migration

Victor’s usual trip home started with the smell of black smoke roaring out of his outdated combustion engine. Upset that he’d missed his daughter’s play, he threw a book about global warming into the trash. In his acknowledgment that he was just a little man in a world filled with brutal thinkers, he decided to watch the news. It appeared as though a man thirsty for power was giving his campaign speech.

“In my quest to be leader of this great nation, I will deport every illegal immigrant in this country as soon as I become president.”

These were the words of George Who. George Who was a politician from an old cloth in a new generation and no one took him seriously but the people on the frontlines. These were the people who were eager for things to go back to what they felt was normal, but sadly, in this game there were people who followed the law and there were people who broke it. George Who was known for being a loose cannon. A man with little political experience, but brutal business tactics. He was feared, only because he showed little empathy for the common man. This was what the majority wanted. For years they were waiting for someone who was bold enough to point out the obvious. The fact that there were people milking the system, but sadly, George Who was also guilty of his own objections. He hired illegal workers and even had a record of throwing people off of their property for his own business gains. In this case, the law was everyone’s own worst enemy and George Who was drowning in his own lust for power. Idolized by his followers, old spells of hatred began to emerge and as the sun shined bright, leaders began to choose unnecessary wars. The tribalism soon turned into riots and protests sparking philosophical thinkers to conclude that action and thought have a lot to do with impulsive responses that in the end reveal in some cases unintended motives. This became evident when people started migrating to have better living conditions, but may have obviously been ill-informed about certain laws. In business they would call it word of mouth and once one person heard about great lands filled with opportunity the buses were filled. This became evident, and one group of logical thinkers became outnumbered during election time. The battle became so intense that George Who almost lost his life in what appeared to be an assassination attempt. Mystified in political illusions and conspiracies people began to point the blame at just about everything and everyone. Human empathy soon began to fade as the obvious became evident. Strange and brutal crimes began to unfold and doctors treating the mentally insane had to reason with the fact that in a world with over a billion people, it’s impossible to treat them all and many slip through the cracks. Unfortunately, more and more people snuck into the country, while those who followed the rules began to question what is fair. This is what got George Who elected and with every stroke of the pen the media basked in the madness that came with enforcing presidential orders. They called it the Sun Migration, and no one was immune because as things got worse and worse, just about everyone began to look for a safe place to call home. In the end, the Sun Migration proved one thing, and that is the fact that most people want the same things, and how we perceive reality plays a big part in why we migrate to get what we want. In this small story, you have the law, citizens who feel cheated, a man eager to achieve power, a sun in the sky being blamed for making the world hotter, people migrating to find a better life, and people breaking the law. So to conclude, the losers are the people who actually have the right intentions, and to them, they’re stuck in an illogical situation. The challenge is how do you follow laws when you’re out numbered by people who have broken them? All while the sun keeps shining and people keep migrating. Under the radar, if it’s intentional, is it an invasion? Is it the sun causing the earth to warm up or is it the people? In the end it didn’t matter because George Who had his mind made up.

Sun Nasty

In all of my years of dealing with art I’ll never forget my trip near the equator. Coming from a wild neighborhood I’d become accustomed to hearing wild stories about what happens when people get too much sun light, well, I got a little taste of it on my trip to the south. It was 2002 and the ship that I was on docked in the port of Florida. It was like I’d stepped on another planet. The trees were different, and the sun seemed to be out almost everyday. It was even worse when we ventured into Puerto Rico. I guess the sun has a way of making people nasty and wild because everywhere we went where the sun was shining was like no other. Bikinis, fancy models, entertainment enthusiasts, and even many other kinds of nasty sexual monsters that a fragile God fearing mind like mine could not stomach was out. I even tried to talk to a girl, but I learned my lesson real quick. Some of the sailors took their fun to a strip joint which was another kind of nasty that I wasn’t accustomed to. Carter, who was half Indian, got so happy sun nasty that he dipped his taster tongue in some pole dancers upside down magic trick. When he came back to the ship it looked like he’d got a taste of a thousand virgins. That put a different kind of swagger in this Indian man, he’d seen a new side of life that most men dream about and don’t go tired craving. Me personally, I could never stomach stuff like that, but I rather enjoyed hearing the story. The heat for some reason made grown men on the edge get sun nasty and wild. A few other sailors got caught storing porn on the ship’s computers. I personally got googally eyed myself if that’s even a word, but it’s hard on the rough seas when the second man floods your mind with nasty fantasies and all you see is half naked women walking around in the heat. It got so sun nasty that condoms were being passed out by medics who were giving sexual advice before liberty call. My cousin warned me about days like these. You see, in her younger days, my cousin loved to party while I spent my time in church, she caught the sun nasty fever early and she told me that if I wanted to make money I had to come to understand that sex sells. I laughed and told her that I’d rather go broke, but I found out the hard way that she was right and when the sun is shining things get even nastier. The night life is wild and people go to exotic levels to get paid for their services. I guess scientifically, the sun must give people extra energy, because the stats show that people reproduce in the heat heavily. People of all races, creeds and colors get sun nasty. On the other end it gets so nasty that people record themselves and sell themselves as sex slaves for an extra buck. Some unknowingly, especially when you involve drugs and alcohol abuse. I have relatives who have been susceptible to harsh crimes because they got sun nasty. I assume that this is a natural occurrence among people. I guess the sun has a way of making us all fruitful. The good reverend would say it’s evil, but I’ve become accustomed to stories about them getting sun nasty also. In the end, I guess we all have this nasty beast inside of us just waiting to get out. The fire burns, but good people lose their religion when it gets too hot. It has a way of making people, wet, wild and

Sun Nasty.

Sun Flowers

Jess: So where did the Sun come from?

RaGods: I put it there to give life to the planets and the earth, that’s all. I spoke it into existence.

Jess: Then why do we have to die?

RaGods: The wisdom that you gain from life prepares you to walk with me. Hold dear to loved ones. Be mindful of memories and when they’re absent from the table, set a plate out for them so they’re not forgotten. Did you read the book? You are a part of me, so I give you a will to follow, a will to choose and the strength to live. I grant you a life to live.

Jess: I didn’t read the book, but I’ve heard about it.

RaGods: In the original text, I have to tell you that if you live your life not knowing, then you’re volunteering to be left into the dark. Follow the Sun Flowers, see how they bloom. Do they not show you a different kind of life?

Jess: I don’t understand.

RaGods: What forces are there?

Jess: Neutral, Negative & Positive.

RaGods: Yes, and there must be power, a source. Look too much at the light and you’ll need the dark. Look too much at the dark and you’ll need the light. Balance is the key.

Jess: So why do we have to die?

RaGods: Look closely, partake of my good fruits and you will awake only to realize that all I give is life. Everyone and everything that I create starts at a seed and then it grows. Yes, flesh does fade, but my child come closer to me and you will feel your soul growing stronger, for my energy is pure; therefore, the life that I give is eternal. When you venture outside of the garden, you will notice Sun Flowers growing all around you. Ask yourself who put them there? Where did they come from? I give life, search for me and you will find an abundance of peace, run from me and you will grow tired lost and weary. In the right climate, everyday that I rise, learn from the Sun Flowers, the main ingredient is God’s infinite rays shining from the sun creating more life. Look closely and you will notice that when they bloom, I am with you, for they do not bloom at night. The Sun Flowers are my blessings, showing you that I give life. That’s what I do. When it rains and the sun is shining, do you not see a rainbow? Therefore, I say, life is good. The colorful Sun Flowers are proof.

The Peaceful Sun

As we humans comb the world debating about facts and opinions there it stands in the sky.

Its ability to provide light and an abundance of energy has left physicists busy.

It’s powerful and it’s just shining.

It does its job and has done so for centuries with no accolades or credits and most of all no wars.

It’s the peaceful Sun.

What a hot friend.

General Sun

He watched it all burn. Everyone and everything. His Army name was General Sun because he had so many combat stripes that he would shine like the sun. His face was like a burning lion and at night he would sleep in black pajamas. He told his unit that he slept in black to honor the shadow warriors from which he came. General Sun never missed a target, but what was yet to come was the battle of all battles.

They called it dark mission 88. It was against a stealth terror unit.

“Sir, how do we beat an enemy that we can’t see?” Corporal Ferguson asked.

“When they attack in the day look for their shadows,” General Sun replied.

After all hell broke loose, Corporal Ferguson and the rest of the unit became weary. Losing hope, they saw no fatigue in General Sun, but for some reason he kept spitting out black blood.

“Sir, don’t you think you should get checked out? Are you even human? You’re spitting out black blood for god sakes.” Corporal Ferguson said.

General Sun stood tall as his unit began to take heavy fire and many of his men did not make it. For some reason General Sun’s skin began to glow like the sun and he began to blow soot out of his mouth. Witnessing him take bullets and spit them out mystified his entire unit including the enemy. Watching their shadows he began picking off each enemy stealth soldier one by one. It was like he was exhaling fire.

“We were sent into an ambush, but the war Gods birthed me to save what is left of our unit. Tell no one what you’ve all witnessed today. I am and will always be the sun on the battlefield when righteous men are tested. I will always be the light at the end of the tunnel. There is a light on the combat field that blinds and burns, make sure you remind your child that their guiding light is General Sun. As long as I’m not forgotten, the battlefield belongs to us. Even in death, I rise, for I am General Sun.”

The Wonderful Sun

I’m searching for a word to describe this amazing thing that rises everyday. Hot, and blistering with fire it still reigns supreme. How does it do it? The flesh of creation disintegrates and fades away, some never to be remembered and there it is in the sky. Amazing how it rises everyday with no worries, it does its job. It doesn’t complain, but most of all, it shines. I’ve learned my lesson, from the wonderful sun.
