Organic Eggs

“Alright, we have about 1 minute left on the clock. Matthew, I want you to take the game winning shot,” coach Peter said.

Judas got upset and interrupted, “I think Jesus should take the game winning shot. He’s our leading scorer.”

Coach Peter stood his ground.

“All season you’ve been riding Jesus’s jock. What do you have up your sleeve? Just follow the game plan, they will never see Matthew’s shot coming.”

As the team got back on the court Mark passed the ball in bounds as Judas took the inbound pass and took the game winning shot himself.

The coach was hysterical while watching the ball bounce off of the rim. Fans went crazy and Judas was humiliated. No one could believe that a division one team could be so disobedient in the championship game. They lost.

On the bus ride home no one said anything. The star player Jesus just sat in his seat breaking bread with his teammates and listening to gospel music.

“It’s all good fellas,” he said.

Judas was jealous and he yearned for the love and attention that Jesus had been getting all season. Judas had won the best defensive player of the year award but even that wasn’t good enough.

The next morning he woke up and saw his name slandered and tarnished in the paper. Sports analysts spent hours replaying his shot while laughing and making talking points. Judas soaked in the humiliation as he prepared to eat his usual organic eggs breakfast and even thought about killing himself for betraying his teammates.

Feeling lonely and tormented he decided to call Jesus,

“Hello, Jesus, how are you doing bro?” Judas said.

“I’m good, just sitting here trying to get motivated to tend my sheep. What’s up?”

“I just wanted to say I’m sorry Bro. I was wrong for taking that game winning shot,” Judas explained.

“It’s cool bro, it’s just a game, my father is a God of second chances. We’re a team bro, either way we shine together. Next year is our year and if all else fails, I’ll pass you the ball and if coach doesn’t approve of it then we’ll just play for another team. I feel your hunger Bro, I asked you to be traded to our squad for a reason. It was your defense that helped us get to the big dance,” Jesus said to his friend and teammate.

After the call Judas repented for betraying his teammates. He even cried while eating his organic eggs and was eager to get another chance to prove himself worthy next season.
