To the fish swimming in circles in the fish tank constantly crashing his face into the glass, I kindly put him in a bowl and let him run free in the lake.
To the water turtle resting on a rock with no friends or family, I kindly set him free in a nearby pond.
To the animals in the zoo with no natural habitat, I opened up the gates and let them run wild in the forest.
To my girlfriend who felt tied down and tired of commitment I too opened up the door and set her free.
To my dog, to my cat, and to all that I held on to, even my old classic cars, I decided to let go.
“Good bye,” I said, standing in a field watching the birds play in the trees. They spread their wings and fly when they too are set free.
Letting go.
