To understand this story one must take a hard look at an old owl sitting in a tree at night staring at the moon. One must also comprehend true wisdom. A holiday is mixed with the word “holy” which means sacred or set aside for Godly reasons and “day” which is a unit of time for the earth to spin on its axis. I will conclude this brief synopsis by defining the word “fight” which corresponds to mean brutal struggle.
“Mr. Claus, I saw a beautiful girl today,” West explained.
“When you saw her, did you speak?” Mr. Claus replied.
“No, I didn’t.”
“So you have doubts,” Mr. Claus said.
West stood still.
“Little elf, I deliver to God’s children every year with no doubts that what I’m doing is for the greater good of the world. The only motivation that I have is a holy season made because of a child called the Christ. The story says that he was a good child. It doesn’t say whether he was beautiful, it just says that he was good,” Mr. Claus explained to West.
“Beautiful? Good? What does that have to do with the girl? West asked.
Mr. Claus put down his list. “I am a character in this magical story called life. I was created for the greater good and to preserve it. The world is filled with good and bad people of all races, creeds, and colors. My character was only created to see good. To me, West, if it’s good, it’s beautiful no matter what it looks like,” Mr. Claus explained.
“So what are you saying, Sir?” West replied.
“The moon glows, it has craters, and it gives off a vibrant ray of light in the night sky. The moon is old and it lives with its craters. The moon stays in its place and is content with its craters. It’s good; therefore, it’s still beautiful,” Mr. Claus concluded.
West looked up in the northern sky. He recalled the Christmas when he and Mr. Claus flew past the moon and he thought it was smiling at him. In West’s mind he was fighting a brutal fight with his conscience. His mind saw a beautiful girl, but in reality that’s all she was to him. True love is a fight, true love is God coming to the earth to die for his creation so that we all can seek redemption and receive God’s glory with forgiveness. It’s a fight that we all are born into and like the moon in the night sky, we must learn its struggle to stay put so we’re able to comprehend our purpose in life.
The second time West the Elf saw the girl she was much older and grey, but he was still a vibrant little elf unable to age. Flying in to give her grandchildren gifts, West noticed that she was alone in her room asleep and poor next to pictures of her passed on family.
It was clear that she’d been hit by asteroids and comets just like the moon. Therefore, West concluded that she was good so Mr. Claus and West gave her the most precious gift of all. They gave her eternal life. Her story lives on, she fought the good fight…She really was beautiful.
