What does the word "Aperture" mean in regards to cameras?

When looking at the eyes, you will notice a hole that opens and closes. This hole lets light in and out. That hole can be small, to let a little bit of light in and then big, to let a lot of light in. This depends on the lighting situation. The camera is no different. The aperture, is the hole that opens and closes to allow more or less light in when taking a picture or filming. Aperture fields are measured by using focal lengths or f-numbers. The f-number goes from, f/1/4, f/2, f2.8, f/4, f/5.6, f8 with f1/4 being the largest opening and f8 being the smallest opening.
